2020 Villa Creek Cellars Cherry House Red Blend, Paso Robles, California

Blend/Varietal: A Rhône-style blend comprising Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, and Graciano.

Tasting Notes:

• Aromatics: Notes of Morello cherry, fig, raspberry jam, red apple skins, blueberry tart, licorice, and dried peach.
• Palate: Silky and supple with flavors of blue fruits and dried peach, leading to a finish accented by sage, licorice, and saffron.
  

Accolades:

• Vinous – 91 Points: "Saturated magenta. High-pitched red fruit, floral and spice qualities on the incisive nose. Juicy and energetic on the palate, offering zesty raspberry, boysenberry and candied lavender flavors sharpened by a spicy suggestion of white pepper. Finishes long and tight, with smooth tannins and lingering spiciness."
  

Winemaker’s Notes: The 2020 Cherry House Red was crafted from organically certified grapes harvested between September 11th and October 17th, 2021. Fermentation occurred with native yeasts in concrete and stainless steel vessels. The wine was aged for 11 months in French oak barrels (15% new), with monthly bâtonnage to enhance texture and complexity.
